Juvenile trifecta for Arrowfield sires

Arrowfield sires dominated today’s 2YO race at Kembla Grange, providing the first four runners past the post.

The two-length winner was the filly Ygritte (Snitzel-Deputy Lil by French Deputy), a $135,000 purchase by Kitchwin Hills from Arrowfield’s 2013 Inglis Classic Sale draft. She is raced by Carl Holt who has previously enjoyed success with another Snitzel filly, Zelsnitz, and is the 23rd Snitzel winner prepared by Gerald Ryan.

Runner-up was Singles Soiree, a colt by Not A Single Doubt from Belle Soiree (by Success Express), an Inglis Scone Sale graduate bought by trainer Terry Croft.

The trifecta was completed by the Manhattan Rain colt Chengdu (ex Two Beauties by Red Ransom), sold for $140,000 by Newhaven Park at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale to trainer Gai Waterhouse & agent James Harron.

Magic Topaze (Not A Single Doubt-Dark Topaze by Fuji Kiseki) was fourth.

Snitzel currently leads the Australian General Sires’ table and is the leading sire of 2YOs by winners with a tally of seven, including Oakleigh Girl (VRC Ottawa S. G3, BRC Calaway Gal S. LR), Golconda (MRC Merson Cooper S. LR), stakes-placed winner Sheer Style and Sydney winner Time for War.

Ygritte’s three-quarter sister by Not A Single Doubt was purchased from Arrowfield by Queensland trainer Stuart Kendrick for $70,000 at last month’s Inglis Classic Sale.

Not A Single Doubt has five Australian juvenile winners this season, notably stakeswinner Risen From Doubt (VRC Maribyrnong Trial S. LR on debut) and stakes-placed filly Unequivocal, who won in good style at Rosehill today.

First season sire Manhattan Rain has now had three placegetters, Giuliani, First Rain and Chengdu, from a handful of starters.
