Arrowfield graduate Amorino became the 19th stakeswinner for Australia’s current leading sire Snitzel when he sped to victory in today’s $100,000 WATC Cyril Flower S. 1200m LR.
Bred by Arrowfield in partnership with Jungle Pocket Pty Ltd, Amorino is out of Steal My Love (by Marauding), a half-sister to dual Group 1-winning filly Danendri. He was purchased for $70,000 from Arrowfield’s draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale by Gerald Ryan for owners Elio & Jacqui Galante.
Ryan prepared Amorino for two wins in Sydney and a sixth place Magic Millions Classic finish as a juvenile before the gelding was transferred last year to Western Australia where he has now won three races on three consective Saturdays.
Trainer Grant Williams said after today’s effort, “He’s just really in a good space at the moment. I’d love to start him again next week if I could. I don’t have to do anything with him during the week.”
The next target for the star 4YO is the Pinjarra Classic on 23 February.
Amorino’s win, the return of Cox Plate winner Shamus Award to run third in the MRC C.F. Orr S. G1 at Caulfield, and Sizzling’s third place finish in the ATC Expressway S. G2 at Randwick have all helped Snitzel consolidate his position at the head of the Australian General Sires’ table.
Amorino is one of eight stakes-winning contributors to Snitzel’s Australian prizemoney of $5.8 million for the season to date.
Arrowfield will offer two colts and a filly by Snitzel at the Inglis Australian Easter Sale in April.
