Brumbies name unchanged XV for Tahs

The Brumbies have named an unchanged starting line-up for their blockbuster Super Rugby grudge clash with the Waratahs in Canberra on Saturday night.

The ACT side has made just the one change to the squad that downed the Hurricanes 29-21 in Wellington last week, with Michael Dowsett replacing Conrad Hoffman as the reserve halfback.

Jarrad Butler will again wear the No.7 jersey after an impressive performance in his first outing filling the boots of star flanker David Pocock, who’s ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

Last week’s standout Pat McCabe will again play at inside centre with Wallabies No.12 Christian Lealiifano targeting a return for the Rebels match in round seven.

Wallabies winger Joe Tomane has been left out of the squad due to a lack of match fitness following an ankle injury and will play in the Brumbies’ second XV in the Pacific Rugby Cup game against Samoa.

Brumbies director of rugby Laurie Fisher said the undefeated Waratahs would pose a huge challenge for last year’s finalists.

“There’s a lot at stake, both teams need a win here against an Australian rival,” he said.

“We’ve picked ourselves up after a disappointing loss first up and we’ve played some good rugby over the last two weeks.”

Brumbies: Jesse Mogg, Henry Speight, Tevita Kuridrani, Pat McCabe, Robbie Coleman, Matt Toomua, Nic White, Ben Mowen (c), Jarrad Butler, Scott Fardy, Sam Carter, Leon Power, Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore, Scott Sio. Reserves: Josh Mann-Rea, Ruan Smith, JP Smith, Jordan Smiler, Lachlan McCaffrey, Michael Dowsett, Andrew Smith, Lionel Cronje.
