England beat Pakistan in one-day series

England have won the fourth and final day-night international against Pakistan by four wickets to sweep the series 4-0.

Kevin Pietersen hit a second successive hundred, finishing with 130 for his ninth one-day hundred as England chased down a target of 239 in 49.2 overs in Dubai on Tuesday.

Pakistan were bowled out for 237 in their 50 overs.

By virtue of this win England overtook Pakistan at number five and pushed their rivals to sixth in the ICC one-day rankings and partially compensated their 3-0 loss in the preceding three-Test series.

Asad Shafiq (65) and Azhar Ali (58) contributed with the bat in Pakistan’s innings while paceman Jade Dernbach finished with a career-best 4-45.

Both teams now play three Twenty20 internationals in Dubai (February 23 and 25) and Abu Dhabi (February 27).
