Players accept sanctions from AFL panel

The AFL Tribunal won’t sit on Tuesday night after six players accepted reprimands from the match-review panel.

Collingwood’s Clinton Young, Essendon’s Jason Winderlich, Fremantle’s Michael Johnson, Melbourne’s Alex Georgiou, Western Bulldogs’ Daniel Giansiracusa and Hawthorn’s Josh Gibson are all free to play this weekend.

Star defender Gibson is free to play for the second-placed Hawks against 11th-placed St Kilda at the MCG on Saturday.

The 2013 premiership player and club champion has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record after being charged with striking Richmond’s Reece Conca during the last quarter of their round-six clash at the MCG last weekend.

Hawthorn’s 2008 premiership wingman Young, now with Collingwood, has been cleared to play in Friday night’s game against arch rivals Carlton at the MCG.

Young has accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points against his record for engaging in rough conduct against Essendon’s Paul Chapman.

Chapman’s teammate Winderlich has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points against his record for striking Collingwood’s Nick Maxwell.

Fremantle’s Johnson has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points for making unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an injured player after clashing with North Melbourne’s Aaron Black during the first quarter of last week’s game at Patersons Stadium.

Melbourne’s Georgiou has accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points for striking Sydney’s star recruit Lance Franklin.

Western Bulldogs’ Giansiracusa has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points for a rough-conduct offence against Adelaide’s Patrick Dangerfield.

Brisbane’s ruckman Trent West has accepted a $900 fine for making negligent contact with an umpire.
