Roughead to miss Port AFL clash

Hawthorn’s Jarryd Roughead will miss their top of the table AFL clash with Port Adelaide after accepting a rough contact charge.

Roughead was charged by the AFL’s Match Review Panel for a bump on Sydney’s Ben McGlynn in their match last Friday night.

Hawthorn general manager of football operations Chris Fagan said the decision was made after reviewing vision of the incident.

“It was pretty clear that part of Rough’s shoulder made contact with Ben McGlynn’s head,” Fagan explained.

“He had 93 carry over points left from last year’s preliminary final, so without that he would have got off with a reprimand but with the 93 carry over points it takes him up to the one week suspension.”

The Hawks face the competition leaders at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
