SA bats thwarting Tasmania in Shield

South Australian captain Michael Klinger was approaching a double-century and thwarting Tasmania on Saturday’s final day of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

The Redbacks were 1-374 at tea, a lead of 101 runs, with Klinger not out 186 and Travis Head unbeaten on 82.

Klinger’s opening partner Tom Stray is the only batsman dismissed as the Redbacks defy Tasmania’s bid for an outright victory.

Stray made 90 before being trapped lbw in the last over before lunch by Tigers paceman Jackson Bird (1-59).

Tasmania bowled SA out for 126 in their first innings and replied with 399.

The Tigers currently have 30 points, equal with Queensland and just four shy of leaders Western Australia.
