QPR set for busy transfer deadline day

QPR are likely to be the busiest side on transfer deadline day.

Press Association Sport understands they hope to make as many as three late additions on Tuesday.

It has been one of the quietest January transfer windows on record, although the Hoops have bucked the trend with a flurry of transfer activity.

Nancy’s Samba Diakite signed a loan deal at QPR with a view to a permanent move, joining fellow new boys Federico Macheda, Taye Taiwo and Nedum Onuoha at Loftus Road.

It is understood a further three players could yet join Mark Hughes’ team, with former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse tipped to be one such player.

There had been suggestions the Italian club wanted QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt in exchange but that was denied by Hughes.

“No, there is no swap deal,” he said.

“We are trying to work hard on a number of deals and obviously Djibril Cisse is a player that I have admired. He knows the Premier League and I think he would be good for us.

“It is difficult to conclude these deals and you are never sure until they are actually confirmed and have all the paperwork in front of you.

“We are not at that point yet with this one.”

At the other end of the table, Chelsea are on the brink of completing the signing of Kevin de Bruyne after the Genk midfielder underwent a medical.

The Belgian champions confirmed the 20-year-old was in London to seal a reported STG6.7 million ($A9.99 million) transfer on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

They also reiterated the winger would be loaned back to them for the rest of the season.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has stressed there will be no transfer movement in or out of his club in the current window.

Meanwhile, Everton manager David Moyes refused to comment on speculation linking the club with Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic.

Reports have suggested the Premier League club are among the front-runners to sign the 26-year-old Croatia international before Tuesday night’s transfer deadline.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has made an offer to npower Championship outfit Crystal Palace for 19-year-old forward Wilfried Zaha, although it appeared the two clubs were not in agreement over the player’s valuation.

The Trotters are hoping to wrap up the signing of Zaha as well as a loan deal for another attacker before the deadline, with Porto’s Argentinian 18-year-old Juan Manuel Iturbe and Arsenal’s Japanese 19-year-old Ryo Miyaichi reportedly on his radar.

Bolton will also be hoping to keep hold of striker Kevin Davies, who is attracting interest from Sunderland.

The Black Cats have had an offer rejected and boss Martin O’Neill is planning a late foray into the winter transfer market after suffering a series of injury setbacks.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez said he is not willing to allow his squad to be weakened for their survival battle.

The Spaniard has defiantly declared he will not sell the likes of Victor Moses, who has been linked with a return to London with QPR, or James McCarthy, who has been on the radar of a number of clubs since moving from Hamilton in 2009.

However, Martinez may be persuaded to cash-in on striker Hugo Rodallega, whose contract expires in the summer.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has insisted Kevin Doyle is “going nowhere” before the transfer window closes, although he loaned out fellow striker Sam Vokes to Brighton.

Swansea manager Brendan Rogers says he is still hopeful of adding “one or two” new faces to his squad before the window shuts but has denied reports linking him with moves for Matthew Bates, Adrian Mariappa and Nicky Maynard.

Stoke are not chasing any last-minute transfers before the window closes, while Press Association Sport understands there may well be activity at Fulham – although moves are not expected for Marseille’s Andre-Pierre Gignac or Borussia Dortmund’s Lucas Barrios.

Tottenham midfielders Tom Carroll and John Bostock have signed loan deals until the end of the season with Derby and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.
