Too Good To Refuse set for Hinkler Handicap

Desleigh Forster is known for her patience with horses and has deliberately kept Too Good To Refuse until late in the Brisbane carnival.

Too Good To Refuse has been back in work for several months and makes his return in Saturday’s Listed Hinkler Handicap (1200m).

The gelding ran second in the Hinkler last year and was then third in the Group Three W J Healy Stakes.

He is likely to follow a similar path this season with a run in the Glasshouse Mountain at Caloundra also an option.

“He has had a good spell and done a lot of beach work. I have really been looking forward to his return but just had to be patient,” Forster said.

“I know every trainer says it but Too Good To Refuse really needs Eagle Farm. If the Stradbroke had been there we would have tried him in it but at Doomben this is the better option.”

A win for Too Good To Refuse would complete a big week for his owner, Queensland breeding industry stalwart Basil Nolan.

He announced last week that Group One-winner Heroic Valour would stand at his Raheen stud next season.

A son of champion sire Fastnet Rock, Heroic Valour won the Group One Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie in New Zealand and also ran third in the Group One NZ Two Thousand Guineas.

Heroic Valour was unbeaten as a two-year-old winning the Listed Matamata Slipper leading into the Group One Diamond.
