Tattersalls Tiara next for Savanna Amour

Syndicate boss Grant Morgan has been quick to declare his mare Savanna Amour potentially the best horse in Queensland after she won the Listed Hinkler Handicap at Doomben.

Savanna Amour ($5) bounced back to her best to beat Missile Coda ($4.20) by a long neck, with half a length to Sony Legend ($17) in the 1200m race.

Morgan, who runs on Ontrack Thoroughbreds, which races the mare, said he had always had high hopes for Savanna Amour.

“We actually thought she would be a top chance in races like the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield in the Autumn,” Morgan said on Saturday.

“But she had a few minor setbacks and we had to aim for the Brisbane winter instead.

“She has won four stakes races and been competitive against the best. She’s headed to the Group One Tattersalls Tiara in two weeks and she will win it and be rated the best horse in Queensland.”

He said the only worry for Saturday’s race was the heavy track but Savanna Amour had handled it well.
