 Chelmsford Stakes

1. DANLEIGH

The old boy ran a cracker first up in the Warwick Stakes here a fortnight ago and his second up record reads even better.  Hasn’t missed a place in five starts at this track and out to the mile, no reason why he won’t involved in the finish again.

2. GINGA DUDE

He was disappointing in the Ipswich Cup before bouncing back a week later to win the Group 3 Tatt’s Cup at Eagle Farm in July. At his best when camped up on the speed and rolling along, he’ll get his chance to do that from his good draw.

Secret Admirer will start favourite in Saturday's Chelmsford Stakes

3. CENTENNIAL PARK

Hasn’t been that far off the pace in two runs back this prep including a second (beaten 1 ¾) in the Group 3 Missile and fifth (beaten 1.7) in the Warwick Stakes. He steps up to a mile here but his record at his distance doesn’t make for good reading. In seven attempts his only managed a second placing – but that was here in the Group 1 Chipping Norton.

4. LAMASERY

Caught the eye first up in the Warwick Stakes finishing well from the tail of the field for a fourth. Has won two from three second up including the Group 3 Kingston Town last prep over 2000m. Will be giving them a start but will be finishing hard and the extra trip suits.

5. SOMEPIN ANYPIN

Just felt the pinch late first up in the Listed Show County finishing third beaten 1.6 lenghts. He’ll cross from his gate and be the likely leader and his only attempt at this trip resulted in a strong four length win in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup.

6. MAULES CREEK

Staying type who was fair first up in the Warwick Stakes here a fortnight ago when beaten only 2.5 lengths. Has won both second up attempts but those victories were in restricted races, not a Group Race under WFA conditions.

7. POLISH KNIGHT

Promising type form the Hawkes yard who was narrowly beaten in the AJC Derby in the Autumn. He returned to racing also in the Warwick Stakes and was doing his best work late finishing ninth of thirteen. The extra trip suits but will be prepared to give him this one too.

8. LIGHTS OF HEAVEN

Peter Moody trained mare who enjoyed a successful Winter Carnival which included winning the Eagle Farm and Brisbane Cups.Returned to racing in the Warwick Stakes where she had to get back form her outside draw. Drawn out will be to her advantage and allow her the time she needs to wind up. Legitimate chance.

9. SECRET ADMIRER

Excellent first up running a close second to the inform Pinwheel in the Warwick Stakes.  She’s never far away and she’ll be in the mix here again but still has only the three wins from seventeen starts to her name and would like a bit more than the $3.00 before jumping on her.

OVERVIEW

Somepin Anypin and Ginga Dude lead the way and fancy that Danleigh might settle closer today with Centennial Park. Give a good chance at eachway odds to Danleigh ($8.00) here given the prospective run and stats for this track and distance. The two mares Lights of Heaven and Lamasery will be finishing hard and both showed enough in their first up runs to take a close look at the $6.50 and $5.50 on offer about them respectively.
