Giorgi stuns Wozniacki at Tokyo tennis

Camila Giorgi came from a break down in the final set to beat defending champion and top seed Caroline Wozniacki in the second round of the Pan Pacific Open.

Trailing 2-0 in the decider, unseeded Italian Giorgi broke back immediately and won six of the last eight games to win 6-2 2-6 6-4.

Croatian Donna Vekic is also through to the quarter-finals after a straight-sets win over Johanna Konta.

British number one Konta led 4-1 with a double break in the second set but ended up losing eight consecutive service points in going down 6-3 7-5.

Seventh seeded Australian Ashleigh Barty was beaten 6-4 6-2 by former world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus and Czech Barbora Strycova beat Anett Kontaveit of Estonia 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 7-5.

At the Korea Open in Seoul, 2013 winner Agnieszka Radwanska bowed out in the last 16 to seventh seed Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4 6-3.

Second seed Kiki Bertens got past Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia 6-4 7-5 and Mandy Minella beat Priscilla Hon 6-3 6-4.

Defending champion and top seed Jelena Ostapenko’s match with Ekaterina Alexandrova was put back to Friday due to rain.

Fourth seed Aleksandra Krunic was knocked out of the Guangzhou Open by Bernarda Pera and seventh seed Vera Lapko crashed out to Andrea Petkovic, who reached her second semi-final of the season.

Third seed and home favourite Qiang Wang eased past Fiona Ferro 6-4 6-0 and Yulia Putintseva, the fifth seed, beat Kateryna Kozlova 6-4 6-1.
