Jaidyn Stephenson probed for AFL bet

Young Collingwood star Jaidyn Stephenson faces the prospect of a lengthy AFL ban and large fine if found guilty of betting on a game he played in.

The incident, understood to involve a wager of less than $50, is being investigated by the AFL Integrity Unit.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan refused to comment on the matter on Tuesday.

“I’m not going to make any comment about anything that may or not be before the integrity department,” he told reporters.

Eight years ago, former Magpie and current GWS defender Heath Shaw was banned for eight matches for backing then-Collingwood skipper Nick Maxwell to kick the first goal of a game.
