Demons cut veteran AFL forward Garlett

Melbourne’s post-mortem into a disappointing AFL season has gathered momentum with forwards Jeff Garlett and Declan Keilty being delisted by the club.

Garlett will not have an opportunity to play a sixth season for the Demons after joining the club from Carlton in 2015.

The 30-year-old played 107 games for Carlton between 2009 and 2014, booting 158 goals and he enjoyed a career resurgence at the Demons will 40 goals in his debut campaign.

Garlett racked up 42 majors in 2017 to claim the club’s goal kicking award but injuries and form issues then intervened.

He managed only seven matches before before being sidelined by season-ending shoulder surgery in June to leave his career total at 185.

Keilty was another casualty on Tuesday after making just two appearances in three years at the club.

The Demons have also farewelled retirement-bound duo Jordan Lewis and Corey Maynard.
