Yamaha Factory Racing star Maverick Vinales will start from pole position at the Australian MotoGP after another dominant performance at Phillip Island.
Vinales was more than half a second quicker than Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and eight-time world champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda), who make up the remainder of the front row.
Local hope Jack Miller (Pramac Racing Ducati) will start Sunday’s 27-lap race from the third row in ninth position.
