Nick Kyrgios has enjoyed a drama-free opening round win at the Australian Open, beating Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-2 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-1).
The Australian 23rd seed got a solid workout from the world No.53 but was never broken and eased to victory in two hours and 13 minutes.
Kyrgios will play the winner of the match between Pablo Cuevas and Gilles Simon in the second round.
