Stefanos Tsitsipas stormed into the Dubai final for a second straight year after a comfortable 6-2 6-3 victory over Britain’s Dan Evans on Friday.
The Greek world No.6 extended his current winning streak to eight consecutive matches, having successfully defended his Marseille title last week ahead of his trip to Dubai.
Tsitsipas, who has won 16 of his last 17 sets, awaits the winner of the second semi-final between Novak Djokovic and Gael Monfils.
The 21-year-old reigning ATP Finals champion will be bidding for a sixth career title on Saturday.
“I just managed to stay solid throughout the whole match. Didn’t have massive breakdowns, I just played good quality of tennis which I enjoyed,” Tsitsipas said.
“I didn’t really feel much stress out there on the court. I’m really impressed by the quality of my game today and I hope to bring the same and possibly better in the final.”
In his first meeting against the 37th-ranked Evans, Tsitsipas broke twice in the opening set and converted his first opportunity to take a commanding lead in just over half an hour.
A much-needed 13-minute hold got Evans on the board at the start of the second set but Tsitsipas upped the pressure on his opponent’s serve and got the break he needed in game three.
Tsitsipas got his first two match points on the Evans serve in the ninth game and wrapped up the clash on his second chance on the 81-minute mark.
The number two seed was comfortable in his own service games, and he ended the contest with a 90 per cent success rate on his first serve. He dropped just 10 points in total on serve throughout the match.
