Richmond recruit Aaron Edwards has avoided suspension from the AFL club over an alcohol-fuelled incident in October.
Just two days after being traded to his third AFL club, the 28-year-old former West Coast and North Melbourne forward was locked up by Melbourne police and fined for being drunk in a public place.
Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said at the time Edwards could expect to learn a “pretty harsh lesson” when the leadership group got together to decide a penalty.
But the club’s leaders have handed the 28-year-old forward only a suspended two-week ban.
Football manager Craig Cameron said Edwards’ attitude could not be questioned since he had started pre-season training with the Tigers.
