Northern Territory Supercars fans are in for an August double-header with an extra Darwin round added to the 2020 championship.
A week after the popular Darwin Triple Crown, drivers will tear around the Hidden Valley track for sprint races on August 15 and 16.
With COVID-19 well under control in the top end, spectators will be allowed to watch all four days of racing across two weekends.
“I would like to thank chief minister (Michael) Gunner and NT Health for working with Supercars on this concept, which allows for us to make the most out of our key northern legs of this year’s championship,” Supercars boss Sean Seamer said.
“Darwin is such a special event for the championship and a real favourite of the teams, drivers and fans.”
All Supercars teams will be based in south-east Queensland after this weekend’s Sydney Supersprint before venturing to Darwin.
It will be the second shift in as many weeks for five Victorian crews since they were forced out of Melbourne after the city went back into a coronavirus lockdown.
Like most sports this year, Supercars organisers have had to dramatically change their schedule to deal with the impact of COVID-19.
