Short odds The Kosciuszko favourite It’s Me in doubt

It’s Me, the short-priced favourite for the $1.3 million The Kosciuszko, will need to pass a veterinary examination before she is cleared to take her place.

Trainer Brett Cavanough advised Racing NSW stewards the mare was scoped on Wednesday afternoon after developing a cough following a swim in the equine pool.

The endoscopic test showed up mild levels of mucus and It’s Me was immediately treated with antibiotics.

The mare also underwent a blood test which returned normal results.

Cavanough advised stewards It’s Me had not missed any training and the unbeaten four-year-old will be scoped again on Friday to check how she has responded to treatment.

The results of the endoscope will be sent to Racing NSW stewards and vets, who will decide if she is fit to contest Saturday’s Randwick feature.

It’s Me was a $2.15 Kosciuszko favourite with TAB fixed odds on Thursday, with Front Page ($4.20) and last year’s winner Handle The Truth ($8.50) the only other runners under double-figure odds.
