Fremantle vs Greater Western Sydney Preview
Round 1 finishes up with the Dockers hosting the Giants at Fremantle Oval.
Expect the Dockers to come out all-guns blazing in season 2021.
Last season, Freo became the first time in the history of the AFLW to go undefeated – winning all six home and away games and then thrashing the Gold Coast Suns by 70 points in the semi final.
Then the competition was cancelled due to COVID19.
They go into season 2021 the premiership favourites and are the sports cliche dictionary definition of unfinished business.
GWS had their best season to date in 2020, winning four games and qualifying for finals, going down to Melbourne by 3 points in a thrilling semi.
But this is a team that already has had some major setbacks before the season has even gotten underway.
The Giants are currently living a hub lifestyle, basing themselves in Albury followed by Adelaide, along with a horrific neck injury to their rookie Brid Stack during the preseason.
Everyone involved in this semi-pro team is sacrificing a whole lot to play this season.
It will be an amazing story if they were to pull off an upset win in the first round, but I’m here to tell you that’s not going to happen.
