After suffering a mid-week loss to Melbourne, the Hawks got back to winning ways last Sunday with a handy three-point win over the Kings.

The result leaves Illawarra not only sitting second behind United on the ladder, but also as the firm favourites heading into Saturday’s clash against the disappointing Taipans.

Still sitting eighth on the ladder, Cairns’ season has been disaster so far, although Mike Kelly’s side did have something to celebrate last week following a double-digit win over the Breakers.

Even so, the Taipans have largely failed to make full use of their home-court advantage as they look a far cry from the team that made a postseason appearance last year.

Looking at the stats, the Hawks are far superior to Cairns in just about every category.

The major one, turnovers, has been the biggest hindrance to the Taipans so far, and things are probably about to get worse inside the bubble.
