Wild Ruler poised to reign in The Galaxy 2021

Peter Snowden regards Wild Ruler as a Group One horse in the making and he is hoping the proof will be in the pudding when the three-year-old contests The Galaxy.

Lightly-weighted horses have a wonderful record in the Group One Galaxy and Wild Ruler will be bidding to add to that statistic at Rosehill on Saturday.

Eleven of the past 20 winners have carried 53.5kg or less and the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained three-year-old will have just 51kg, a significant drop on the 59kg he carried to victory first-up in the Listed Fireball Quality.

“It will be three weeks since he raced last, but we’ve kept him right up to the mark and he’ll be ready to go on Saturday,” Peter Snowden said.

“He’s in good shape. There are no excuses there and with 51 kilos on his back, he’s dropping eight kilos from his last start so that’s a big advantage.

“He is meeting some Group One horses here but potentially, I think he might get there at some stage, hopefully on Saturday.”

The Snowdens have been patient with the son of Snitzel, who is building an imposing record with four wins and three placings from his eight starts.

He finished third behind Rothfire at Group Two level as a juvenile and returned for a light but fruitful spring which included a Roman Consul Stakes victory and a third in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes.

His profile is similar to that of former Team Snowden galloper and now sire Russian Revolution, the last three-year-old to capture The Galaxy in 2017.
