Sale meeting transferred to Pakenham

Heavy rain in Gippsland has forced Racing Victoria to transfer the Sale meeting on Wednesday to Pakenham.

An inspection of the Sale racecourse on Tuesday following 300mm of rain on Monday night showed considerable surface water on the track.

With showers continuing on Tuesday and additional rain expected during the meeting on Wednesday, the call was made to transfer the meeting to the turf track at Pakenham.

On Tuesday, the track at Pakenham was rated a Soft 5.

Racing Victoria has reinstated all scratchings allowing trainers the option to withdraw their horses by the 7.30am deadline on Wednesday.

All distances remain the same with the exception of race four, a benchmark 70 race, that has been shortened from 2200m to 2000m.

Clayton Douglas, who last week won the Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool, will put his trainers’ hat on when he saddles three runners Golden Monkey, Screwdriver and Jagged Edge on Wednesday.

All three will be ridden by his fiancee Jamie Kah, as the pair look to continue their successful stint after Kah rode five winners at Caulfield on Saturday.
