Jockey Billy Egan believes Foxy Frida could be up to winning a better race over a longer trip following her fighting win at Flemington.
Foxy Frida scored back-to-back wins at Flemington when she claimed the Rivette Series Final (1400m) on Saturday.
The Andrew Noblet-trained filly was successful over 1410m on June 5 and Egan, who was having his first ride on the three-time winner from seven starts, said the daughter of Foxwedge would appreciate a rise in distance.
In a slogging finish, Foxy Freda ($5.50) scored by a short-head from Divine Diosa ($6.50) with Aidensfield ($5.50) a further two-and-three-quarter lengths off third.
Egan, who was the beneficiary of the standing down of Craig Williams because of that jockey’s travels to Brisbane, was impressed with the victory of Foxy Frida.
“I think the way she raced today she is looking for a mile,” Egan said.
“She did a good job to quicken through those gaps and show a turn-of-foot.
“The way she raced she raced off the bridle and they might (have been a) bit sharp for her, but she ended up getting there which is really nice.”
Stephanie Hately, representing the Noblet stable, said Foxy Freda was a filly that keeps them on the edge of their seats everytime she races.
“Sometimes you think she’s going to be a hard luck story but she’s so consistent and she fights all the way to the line,” Hately said.
“She seems to be a horse that gets through all conditions, so there’s no stopping her, really.
“Andrew will see how she pulls up from this race and then we’ll plan out another one.”
