Cleveland Browns vs Kansas City Chiefs Preview

This rematch of last year’s Divisional clash looks to be one of the highlights of the opening week.

Cleveland went down admirably at Arrowhead by five points to Kansas City back in January, with the Chiefs of course going on to lose in a blowout to the Bucs in the Super Bowl.

The Browns have had plenty of time to reflect on that loss, while they’ve also spent most of the offseason bolstering the defence by selecting cornerback Greg Newsome in the first round of the draft, and promising young Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in the second.

Kansas City’s roster is relatively unchanged from last year’s, which obviously makes the Chiefs the team to beat in the AFC again.

This game should largely boil down to how Cleveland handles the Arrowhead crowd, which is easier said than done given it will be at capacity for the first time in 18 months.

Turnovers and containing Patrick Mahomes were the two biggest areas that cost the Browns in last year’s playoffs, and although they have the pieces to really put pressure on the 2019 MVP, it’s hard to back against the competition heavyweights and their undefeated Week 1 record dating back to 2015.
