Neville Parnham hopes to Demolish rivals in Melvista Stakes 2023

Neville Parnham shares the same confidence as punters in their assessment of Demolish.

After opening the $3.10 favourite, Demolish has trimmed to $2.90 to take out the Listed Schweppes Melvista Stakes (2200m).

Parnham says Demolish is bursting to win a feature race after going close and running cracking races at his previous two encounters.

Demolish ran second to All The King’s Men in the Lex Piper Stakes (1600m) and occupied the same pacing behind Another Chino in the J.C.Roberts Stakes (1800m).

Parnham, who last celebrated a Melvista Stakes victory with Superior Star (2003), says Demolish is poised to score a knockout blow on Saturday.

“His last two runs have been outstanding,” Neville Parnham told Tabradio.

“The start before he was three deep punching the breeze, stretching the neck of a quality horse All The King’s Men.

“I thought his effort was outstanding that day and then he followed it up with another good performance last start over the 1800m.

“He steps up to the 2200m and it looks like that’s not an issue to him.

“He looks like a stayer and works like a stayer and hopefully is one.

“He has certainly matured a lot more in this campaign and has always shown good ability.

“He’s going quite good at the moment and we expect him to be in the finish again.”

Demolish will be ridden by Steven Parnham and has drawn barrier four.

Parnham also expects Snowdome to live up to his rating when he resumes in the Alliance Nickel Handicap (1200m).

“He’s going really well and trialled good the other day,” Parnham said.

“Brad (Parnham) didn’t let him off the bridle and we didn’t want him over exerted.

“He had a good gallop at Ascot on Tuesday and has worked very, very good.

“I think he is right on track.”

Snowdome, a winner of the Sires’ as a two-year-old, has not been out of the first three when racing first up.

The Rommel colt, to be ridden by Chris Parnham, will jump from barrier five.

Snowdome holds current favouritism ($2.70) over Western Knight ($3.40) and Tadweer ($4.20).
