The returning star lines up in the G3 Roma Cup (1100m), her first time back at the races after last year’s Ascot Pinnacles triumphs.

Amelia’s Jewel won the G2 WA Guineas (1600m) before enhancing her star status with a G1 victory in the Northerly Stakes (1800m) last December.

Trainer Simon Miller says Amelia’s Jewel can make an impact first-up in the Roma Cup, but won’t be fully wound up for her main target: The $4 million Quokka in a fortnight.

“She’s not wound up yet, the Quokka is our go,” Miller said on Tabradio.

“She is forward enough to win on Saturday, but I still have room for improvement.

“She won first up last prep in the Belgravia, albeit in an easier grade than what she has to do Saturday.

“But, she’s a lot more forward than when she won the Belgravia, so that sets us up good.

“I have heaps of wriggle room to use this as a building run for The Quokka.

“We’re in a perfect position, she galloped well on Tuesday and is actually a bit above herself this morning (Wednesday).

“Everything she is doing behind the scenes is exceptional and her trial was unreal this time in.

“It’s a good sign and after a bit more work she’ll be ready for Saturday.

“She can win on Saturday, I won’t be surprised, but I have bigger fish to fry.”

Amelia’s Jewel will jump from barrier two in the Roma Cup. To be ridden by Pat Carbery, the daughter of Siyouni is on the 54.5kg minimum.

“She’s bounced out of everything we’ve done this time in, it’s been an easy prep so far,” Miller said.

“She gets beautiful weight relief off the rest of the field and does no work from the draw.”

Amelia’s Jewel can give Miller a second Roma Cup after Power Princess was successful in 2013.

Carbery won the Roma Cup on Vega Magic three years ago.
