The player who went at pick 1, Harley Reid, will not be playing in the clash, which does open the door for the North Melbourne midfielders to bring a bit more crash and bash to the contest.

West Coast was on top for the second part of the first three quarters but were punished by the Saints when they were able to create spread in transition and lower their eyes inside 50.

That’s North Melbourne’s best hope moving forward, and if they’re persistent on bombing it deep to Nick Larkey, they’ll find little success in the progress.

Both sides are in the bottom three for tackles per game, and it’s a contest that might be decided on pressure acts around the contests, which the Eagles typically execute better on their home deck.

One thing in the Roos’ favour is their accuracy in front of the big sticks, sitting second in the competition, which will be vital if they’re to take home their first win of the year.

The Eagles will want to keep the momentum going and with the Roos inability to stay competitive for longer than a half, they should have a period of dominance that breaks the game open.
