A couple weeks ago this is a clash that had little value with respective form lines, but the Dogs have hit their straps recently, and the Swans have shown vulnerability lately.
Sydney went down to the Lions narrowly by two points last week but werent embarrassed by any stretch, leading for most of the second half.
The Dogs have knocked off 2nd and 3rd in the last two weeks of footy and are finding their rhythm at the right time.
Its their stoppage craft that has them exploiting teams directly from the stoppages, and their flurry of entries are becoming hard to stop, although they do need to fix up their accuracy.
The Swans were clinical inside 50 and battled hard to reduce the Lions scoreboard impact theyre used to exceeding at the Gabba.
2020 was the last time the Dogs won at the SCG, and its been few and far between, with the previous win before that back in 2016, so the pattern is eye-catching
Sydney is on par with most midfields in the competition statistically, but theyre so good because of how clinical and efficient they are in the forward half.
This has the potential to be a real shootout, similar to the Fremantle game a few weeks back, and if Rory Lobb can get a hold of Amartey along with the loss of Papley, the Swans will need to find scores through their midfielders.
The Dogs will struggle to match the Swans for speed in transition and thats where this game may be won or lost, as opportunities shouldnt be limited for either side.
A win for the Dogs will set up a push for the top four let alone finals, but the Swans need to keep on proving there are levels to this.
