Two clubs with little left to play for meet with more than just bragging rights on the line.

Finishing the season strongly is paramount to the future of the Gold Coast Suns, particularly on the back of last week’s narrow win over Essendon that largely boiled down to the Bombers’ inconsistencies.

The Dees appear to be charging to the finish line with their stars still taking to the park, but after failing to score over 60 points in their last two games, it’s hard to draw many positives about Melbourne’s recent performances.

The battle through the middle should be fascinating with Matt Rowell and Clayton Oliver going head to head, but this does look a tough matchup for the Suns if they allow the Dees to win their share of uncontested foorty, just like the Dons did last week.

It’s worth noting the Dees have won 11 in a row over the Gold Coast dating back to 2014, but I struggle to see how Melbourne scores points in this one.

The Suns are a different beast at home, and if you compare the two on the stat sheet, you’ll quickly see Melbourne is averaging nearly seven less inside 50 entires per-game compared to their opponent.
