Brownlow Medal Odds, Tips, Predictions and AFL Betting Preview – 2024

Football’s night of nights is on again with the 2024 edition of the Brownlow medal set to be another epic count.

The likes of Patrick Cripps, Nick Daicos, Lachie Neale, Marcus Bontempelli and Caleb Serong all make a strong case to take Charlie home, but there can only be one winner.

Actually, there can be multiple provided they are on top of the leaderboard with the most votes after Round 24.

The glitz, glamour, drama, prestige and excitement that only the Brownlow Medal can offer and it’s a terrific night for Punters with plenty of unique and special markets on offer.

I’ve picked out a few of my favourite bets for this years count and hopefully we can make it a profitable one with our 2024 Brownlow Medal Tips & Preview

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?

Brownlow Medal W inner

Bet: Tie at $4.50

At the time of publishing, Carlton’s Patrick Cripps and Magpie Nick Daicos were respective $2.50 favourites in our winner market, with Lachie Neale at $8.50 and Marcus Bontempelli at $15.

While it’s worth noting that last year’s winner Lachie Neale was an upest at the $13 on offer (which we did recommend in last year’s preview), various Brownlow predictors, including the one on the AFL website (which did predict Neale as the winner last year) have Patrick Cripps and Nick Daicos tied on 33 votes at the end of Round 24.

With Lachie Neale and the Bont set to make a charge in the votes as well, we could be in for a thrilling count, and the tied result would be fitting given the season we have witnessed in 2024.

It would be the first tied Brownlow since Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell in 2012* (*We all know the backstory, calm down Bomber fans) and while I’ve copped it before for predicting one in recent years, just like those who keep saying Dustin Martin is headed to the Gold Coast – It might actually happen this time, and happy to take the $4.50 on offer.

Brownlow Medal Top 3

Bet: Isaac Heeney (Sydney Swans) at $3.50

Before his one-match suspension for striking St Kilda’s Jimmy Webster back in Round 17, Isaac Heeney was very much the Brownlow favourite, however, say what you like, but the rules are rules, and therefore he can’t win.

However, Heeney will still poll plenty of votes, and is very likely to jag a three-vote game after he came back from suspension with his season-best efforts of 32 disposals in the Swans thrilling Round 22 three-point win over the Magpies at the SCG.

The asterisk beside his name will stand out early in the count where he is likely to be leading, but you should expect the name I. Heeney* to be on the leaderboard deep into the count.

For the sake of the medal, he should have a top-three finish rather than go down the Chris Grant/Corey McKernan path.

The $3.50 on offer for the top three is a good value bet for mine.

Brownlow Medal Top 5

Bet: Caleb Serong (Fremantle) at $3.00

It’s a fact of life that the Brownlow is a midfielder’s medal, and Serong is a classic Brownlow dark-horse.

He plays for a non-Victorian club, gets plenty of the footy averaging 29.4 disposals and doesn’t have much trouble with the umpires.

This is a perfect recipe for someone to get plenty of votes in the count and be right amongst it.

There are real Matt Pridis 2014 upset vibes about Serong, and he could potentially pass the likes of a Lachie Neale or the Bont in the count.

Remember, you gotta think like an umpire when you give these votes.

He’s currently $21 to win the medal, and while I’m not willing to back that, a top-five finish for Caleb Serong could be so-right.

Brownlow Medal Top 20

Bet: Jesse Hogan (GWS Giants) at $3.00

Jesse Hogan as a Giant has been one of the great stories winning the Coleman Medal nine ahead of the runner-up, Jeremy Cameron.

In what was undoubtedly a career-best season for the 29-year-old, the 2015 Rising Star winner when he was a Demon has found his place up forward for his third club the orange team after a rollercoaster stint at Freo.

Averaging 3.1 goals per game, 69 for the season (nice) making him one of the more accurate winners of the Coleman in recent years, the case that the umpires only notice midfielders will be obvious if Hogan isn’t polling votes for his efforts this season.

Brownlow Medal To Poll a Vote

Bet: Nick Watson (Hawthorn) at $7.00

The “to poll a vote” market is one of the more fun offerings, and I was genuinely stunned to see Hawk young gun Nick “The Wizard” Watson at $7 to poll a vote.

In the Hawks 74-point thumping of Carlton in Round 22, the Wizard was on fire, especially in the second half, with 17 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 4 goal assists, 6 inside 50s and despite not kicking a goal in the game himself, his selfless efforts make him very vote friendly.

Watson also went on to kick three goals against Richmond and North Melbourne respectively in the Hawks last two home and away games of the season.

As the count gets to the finishing line, keep an eye out for the close finish for where we’ll hopefully have the tied result and the Wizard jagging a sneaky vote with the $7 on offer.
