As ‘Buddy mania’ continues to grip Sydney, punters continue to pile on the Swans to win the 2014 AFL Premiership.
The Swans’ odds of winning the flag in 2014 have been cut from $7 into $5 at Sportingbet following a large volume of bets since the news broke that Lance Franklin would join the club. The Swans now share second favouritism with Fremantle and sit just behind Hawthorn at $4.50 in Premiership betting.
“Buddy’s signing has resulted in a massive spike of bets for the Swans to win next year’s flag,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
“The ticket count for the Swans is four-times higher than the corresponding period last year and the average bet size is also significantly larger,” Brown said.
It’s a different story for GWS, which has drifted from $451 to $501 at Sportingbet.
“We’ve taken eight bets for GWS so far and four of them are $1 wagers,” Brown said.
