Qld set SA 274 for one-day win

Queensland have set South Australia a challenging target of 274 in their domestic one-day cup match at North Sydney Oval.

Some big-hitting from Queensland captain James Hopes (49 not out) and Ben Cutting, 39, late in the innings lifted the Bulls to 8 for 273, with 65 runs peeled off the final five overs on Saturday.

Cutting, having played a stunning innings of 98 not out off 48 balls at the same venue last weekend, seemed set to repeat the dose before skying into the deep after striking four sixes off just 30 balls.

Hopes also batted confidently scoring at nearly a run-a-ball, while opener James Peirson top-scored in compiling 85 off 102 deliveries.

South Australia were initially rewarded after gambling by giving Queensland first use of the wicket.

Despite the small ground it was spin that made the difference for the Redbacks in the middle part of the innings.

South Australia skipper Johan Botha claimed three quick top-order wickets with his off-spin before finishing with 3 for 42 off ten overs.

Former NSW leg-spinner Adam Zampa took 2 for 28 off eight overs.
