Cox Plate 2013: Atlantic Jewel and Fiorente’s odds drift

Cox Plate favourite Atlantic Jewel has drawn perfectly for Saturday’s Group one $3.5 million race at Moonee Valley with the Mark Kavanagh-trained galloper to start from gate seven.

Despite this Atlantic Jewel has drifted from $2.35 out to $2.50 with Betstar.

“Atlantic Jewel has drifted slightly but this has nothing to do with the barrier draw and more a case of the market in general drifting,” Betstar’s Alan Eskander said.

“Her main market rivals, It’s A Dundeel and Fiorente, have both drawn wide. It’s A Dundeel has remained rock solid at $5. Fiorente on the other hand will probably have to go back to last from the gate, and it will be a hard task for him. As a result he has drifted out to $5 from $6.”

Meanwhile Caulfield Guineas winner Long John was the big mover firming from $16 into $13 after drawing barrier 11.

“Long John has shortened from $16 into $13 and could potentially lead in this with his light weight. I expect him to attract attention from punters at this price.”

Atlantic Jewel $2.35-$2.50

Fiorente $5-$6

Long John $16-$13

Happy Trails $21-$26
