The Australian team of Adam Scott and Jason Day have been heavily backed firming from $3.75 into $2.75 since Scott won the Australian Masters yesterday and are clear favourites.
“Scott is arguably the best player in the world at the moment coming off wins in the Australian PGA and Masters in recent weeks and the punters are keen to back him wherever he goes,” Sportingbet’s Michael Felgate said.
Team USA, consisting of Matt Kuchar and Kevin Streelman, is the only other team under double-figure odds at $7.
Ireland has had some backing at $10 with Graeme McDowell teaming up with Shane Lowry.
“Scott and Day are two of the biggest names playing in the World Cup, if they play anywhere near their best Australia should have an easy win,” Felgate said.
