With both sides playing a fast, exciting brand of footy, this one has all the makings of an instant classic.

After a sluggish start to the season that featured back-to-back losses to GWS and Richmond, the Crows have finally put it all together with a pair of impressive wins over Port and Fremantle.

It was touch and go last week in the first half, but the Blues remain undefeated after downing North Melbourne by 23 points thanks to a massive six-goal haul from Charlie Curnow.

With Harry McKay adding four himself, it was the first time all year Carlton’s forward line has fired on all cylinders, but perhaps more impressively, the Blues suddenly look formidable down back.

Carlton has been the third-toughest team to score against so far this year, while the Blues have also held opponents to the fifth-lowest kicking efficiency percentage in the competition.

That said, this is still a danger game for Michael Voss’ men, as well as a huge “prove it” moment after this same Crows team basically derailed their season last year with a blowout upset in Round 20.

The Blues have likely had this game circled on their calendar for some time, but despite their defensive improvements, I’m wary of the fact Carlton is still giving up the fourth-most inside 50s.

As we’ve seen, the Crows have been a real handful up forward even in Darcy Fogarty’s absence. Tex Walker and Izak Rankine have been electric in front of goal in recent weeks – two players capable of rivaling McKay and Curnow down the other end.

The Blues’ midfield is set to receive a big boost with Sam Walsh making his season debut following injury, but with the Crows kicking 100+ points in back-to-back games, I think Adelaide’s points total might be a touch low.
