Just when it looked like Matthew Nicks’ side was destined to play finals, they cough up another disheartening loss on the road, this time to a Bombers outfit they really should have beaten.

Alongside the obvious – giving up 81 points – Adelaide was smashed in the possession count and gashed in their back half by an inferior Bombers forward line, a worrying loss with a backlog of teams still vying for a spot in the eight.

One win from eight away trips makes for grim reading, but it does make this week’s return home to the Oval all the more interesting.

Tied on points, Adam Kingsley’s side sits 10th behind Adelaide on the ladder, and given the form of both Tom Green and Toby Greene this season, this game has all the makings of a scrappy fight.
