Adelaide Crows vs Richmond Tigers Preview
Is the glass half full or empty when it comes to the Tigers?
Tim Taranto and the new-look midfield made life difficult for the Blues last Thursday night, but Damien Hardwick needs to come up with a quick solution to some of the turnover woes that cost his side a win.
The other bright spot was Dustin Martin enjoying his new role up forward, but it just feels like the ‘Tiges might take a game or three to really click.
Fortunately, their old punching bag the Crows are up next, a team that took one step forward and one step back in two halves of footy last week against GWS.
After leading by a healthy five-goal margin at half-time, Adelaide fell behind in the clearances and inside 50 counts – two areas the Crows dominated in the opening half.
Landing the sucker punch has been a problem for Adelaide for a while, but Matthew Nicks’ side will take confidence away from last year’s blowout win over Richmond at home.
That said, it’s difficult to feel confident in a team that just lost to one of the top wooden spoon contenders – one that was also down two key players.
If there’s been one constant over the last five-ish years, it’s been Richmond on the back of a loss.
The Tigers have gone 5-2-2 in their last nine games following a defeat with a decent 5-4 record at the line to match.
If they can hold on to the footy and maintain their composure in front of goal, Richmond should find themselves in the win column.
