AFL cuts 2020 season to 17 rounds

The AFL will cut its season from 23 rounds to 17 as the fallout from the coronavirus continues to cause carnage in Australian sport.

A decision on whether the season starts as scheduled on Thursday night will be delayed until Tuesday, AFL boss Gillon McLachlan announced on Monday.

It comes as all state leagues, including the VFL, SANFL, WAFL and NEAFL, have been postponed until May 31.
