Punters have wasted little time backing Fremantle to cause an upset in Saturday’s AFL Grand Final against Hawthorn.
After booking a place in their first Grand Final defeating Sydney last night, the Dockers have already been backed from $2.35 into $2.30 with Hawthorn an easing favourite $1.58 out to $1.62.
“It’s only early, but so far 70% of bets on the Grand Final have been on the Dockers,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.
“Hawthorn has been a long-time premiership favourite and will remain so, but it’s clear many punters think the Dockers can cause an upset and we expect they will continue to firm this week.”
Hawthorn progressed to its second successive Grand Final with a thrilling preliminary final win over arch-rivals Geelong in a bone-crunching encounter.
“There is a feeling the Hawks might have played their Grand Final against Geelong on Friday night. It was an emotional win breaking the Kennett curse and they have a number of injury concerns to deal with,” Felgate said.
“Fremantle’s finals campaign has been ideal and we think they can pull off an upset.”
