AFL Round 5 Odds and Betting Preview – 2021

Melbourne have made their best start to a season in 27 years and their odds for the Premiership have firmed as a result, in from $21 to $11 with TAB.

A return to the Finals now looks likely at $1.40, with a top 4 spot priced at $2.40.

Richmond remain the flag favourites despite drifting from $4.25 to $5.00, while the Western Bulldog have been the best backed team over the weekend and are now on the third line of betting at $7.50.

In other AFL betting news:

  • Following his 36 disposal and two goal game, Christian Petracca now looms as a legitimate Brownlow chance. He’s equal second favourite with Marcus Bontempelli at $8.00 – Dustin Martin is the $4.50 favourite.
  • While Sydney still dominate the Rising Star market, Essendon’s Nik Cox has been the big mover throughout Round 4, firming from $41 into $9.00. Lachie Jones’ debut with Port Adelaide also caught the eye of punters, with the academy prospect now priced at $15.
  • Taylor Walker remains the Coleman Medal favourite at $3.50, with Carlton’s young gun Harry McKay continuing to threaten, now into $6.00
