Port Adelaide have named Tom Jonas as their captain for 2020, abandoning their co-captaincy model after just one year.
Jonas shared the captaincy with Ollie Wines in 2019 in a move that divided AFL fans but the Power have decided to revert to a solitary skipper for next season.
Jonas, 28, who has played 139 games for the Power since making his debut in 2011, becomes the team’s first sole captain since Travis Boak (2013-18).
The defender made 18 appearances in 2019, with the Power finishing 10th in the AFL ladder on 44 points.
His 2019 co-captain Wines, 25, has played 141 games for the AFL club since he was drafted No.7 in the 2012 AFL draft but injuries limited him to just 12 appearances this season.
In October, the club publicly denied speculation Wines explored a trade away from the club.
The Power will announce Jonas’ captaincy at a media conference on Friday.
