Baillieu backs Hawthorn to snare AFL flag

“Bring it on, Barry.”

These are Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu’s words to his over-the-border counterpart Barry O’Farrell as Melbourne-based Hawthorn and the Sydney Swans clash in Saturday’s AFL grand final.

“I think the NSW premier will be here on Saturday and I look forward to arm wrestling him to the floor on Saturday afternoon with the results,” Mr Baillieu told reporters on Tuesday.

Mr Baillieu, who is the member for Hawthorn, believes the team is primed.

“Hawthorn by 80 or 90 points,” he said.

“They’ve got the talent, they’ve got the experience and it’s tough for a Geelong supporter to say that, but I think they’ll have a feast.

“I hope it’s a great game but I think the Hawks have a really big head start.”

Grand final fever will continue into Sunday with the Melbourne Storm and Canterbury Bulldogs to face off in the NRL grand final at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

“I’m happy to arm wrestle Barry to the floor after the game on Saturday and we’ll go round two on Sunday,” Mr Baillieu said.
