Blues star Murphy sent off for ankle scans

Carlton have more AFL injury concerns over another star player with veteran midfielder Marc Murphy going down at training.

The former Blues skipper was taken off the training ground on a cart after suffering an ankle injury during a drill on Monday morning.

The club has confirmed to AAP that Murphy has been sent off for scans.

If the injury is serious it would be a major blow to Carlton’s plans heading into their first full-season under coach David Teague.

Young key forward Charlie Curnow still isn’t back into full training after he underwent surgery in November on a fractured right patella bone.

Big man Harry McKay is working his way back from a groin issue, while defender Caleb Marchbank will be eased back into training after missing the final seven games of last season with a neck injury.

Carlton co-captain Sam Docherty is on track to play against reigning premiers Richmond in round one after missing two seasons due to back-to-back anterior cruciate ligament tears.
