A date with the Premiership favourites couldn’t have come at a worse time for Chris Fagan and the Lions.

Not for the first time, Brisbane were embarrassed on the big stage last week, losing a heartbreaker to the Bulldogs that has left supporters and critics with more questions than answers.

Down back, Harris Andrews played one of the best games of his career, but the Brisbane forward line failed to fire with Joe Daniher and Charlie Cameron missing easy chances, and Eric Hipwood basically a non-factor for the third game in a row.

The Pies, meanwhile, head to the Gabba 3-0 fresh from a 14-point win over the Tigers last Friday night.

Jordan De Goey and Nick Daicos put on a clinic racking up close to 70 combined disposals, while Collingwood’s pressure was once again elite forcing Richmond into some sloppy turnovers inside their own forward 50.

Typically, Brisbane has answered the bell coming off a disappointing result the week prior, but it’s hard to back against a Collingwood outfit that continues to tick all the boxes.

There hasn’t been a better clearance team in the competition than the Lions through three rounds, but the Pies have them covered when it comes to inside 50s and points scored.

The battle through the midfield will be fascinating with Daicos and Lachie Neale both earning full Brownlow votes last week, but where this game will likely be won and lost is up forward.

With Collingwood in sync and the Lions struggling to resemble anything close to a top-eight team, it’s difficult to back against the Pies in a big clash like this.
