It’s officially D-Day for Brisbane at Norwood Oval on Friday afternoon.

Some controversy off the field has thrown further fuel onto the fire following last week’s blowout loss to Collingwood, a game that swung back and forth and eventually resulted in Brisbane’s third straight loss.

Likewise, North is searching for its first taste of victory– last week’s Good Friday blowout featuring plenty of positives in what was always going to be another tough transition year for Alastair Clarkson and co.

Talks of the Lions and their culture are running rampant through the media, made only worse by the fact Chris Fagan’s side erased a five-goal deficit to lead in the third quarter, and then eventually lose by 20 points.

On the plus side, Brisbane got the ball inside their forward 50 on 56 occasions, while Lachie Neale, Dayne Zorko, and Hugh McCluggage all looked back to their best.

I think North’s young and developing midfield to keep up with the Lions early, but as we’ve seen, the Shinboners just don’t have the legs to run with some of these bigger, maturer clubs for a full four quarters.
