There’s a slight heartbeat for the Lions, who showed why they can be feared with a dominant win over the Dogs at Marvel last week.

Their opponents, the Saints, notched up a prototype Ross Lyon win, beating the Suns scoring 51 points.

Fair to say that score won’t win them the game this week, heading to the Gabba, which hasn’t been as daunting for opposition as it has been in recent years.

The clear discrepancy is in the midfield, where the Lions clearance dominance should provide the base for a considerable amount of inside 50 entries to break the Saints defence.

Inside 50 for the Saints they need to be prepared to pounce on the loose ball, similar to how they worked against the Suns where they were effective at ground level through the likes of Higgins and Butler.

There does need to be more reliance on their midfielders to hit the scoreboard, as their forward presence simply hasn’t been enough, only averaging 70 points per game.

Brisbane’s poise and control at the Gabba should give them moments of dominance, enough to secure the four points.
