Brisbane’s Black cops one game AFL ban

Brisbane veteran Simon Black has accepted a one match ban and will miss his team’s AFL clash with the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

The 2002 Brownlow Medal winner accepted the suspension for striking GWS skipper Callan Ward during Saturday’s match at the Gabba.

Black, who has been struggling with injury this season, is yet to decide whether to stretch his career into 2014.

If the 34-year-old decides to retire, the one-game suspension means his final AFL match will be in round 23 against Geelong.

West Coast veteran Dean Cox has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points toward his future record for striking Geelong skipper Joel Selwood during the Eagles’ 66-point home defeat on Saturday.

Cox’s good record over the past six years bought him a heavy discount on what would have been his penalty.

Port Adelaide midfielder Hamish Hartlett has taken a two-match ban for his heavy bump which floored Gold Coast defender Seb Tape.

Hartlett would be likely sidelined anyway after dislocating his right shoulder in a later incident.

West Coast midfielder Scott Selwood has accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points for tripping Geelong’s Mitch Duncan.
