Sydney star Lance Franklin is set to make his long-awaited 300th AFL appearance on Saturday against St Kilda at the SCG.
The superstar forward has missed the past eight games since round 14 due to a hamstring injury.
Franklin trained strongly on Tuesday with teammates.
“Can’t wait for Saturday @ourscg ,” Franklin posted on Instagram.
Sydney’s head of football Charlie Gardiner said Franklin was expected to return this weekend to the side.
“Lance has trained solidly now for three weeks and put in another solid session this morning,” Gardiner said.
“From a medical perspective, he has ticked all the boxes and the medical team are confident that he is ready to go.
“Assuming he gets through training on Thursday, he will line up for his 300th game this weekend, which is very exciting.”
He might run out alongside former Swans co-captain and 2012 premiership player Jarrad McVeigh after also joining teammates at training.
McVeigh, who is retiring at the end of the season, has missed the past nine rounds.
He has been sidelined by a calf injury but, if he plays on Saturday, he will join former teammate Jude Bolton on 325 games – the second highest for the club behind Adam Goodes (372).
“Jarrad is desperate to play a last game for the Swans on Saturday,” Gardiner said.
“He needs to complete training this week. He trained solidly this morning but still has to get through a solid session on Thursday.
“We won’t make a decision on him until after Thursday when we will sit down with the medical team and make a decision on whether he has done enough to play.”
